Purchases That Pay to Wait
It’s true that inflation has caused the price of some commodities to increase over time. For those purchases, getting a check advance to pay when the price is lower can make a lot of sense. However, there are still some items that are starting to show price decreases. If you are in the market for some flat screen televisions, precious metals, or even gas you have to take into account deflationary trends in these commodities to get the most bang for your buck.
Electronics
The prices of electronics experience some deflationary momentum as new models come out. Another reason is that competition from other sources selling similar products can drive down prices in the technology arena. Flat screen television prices are dropping and it can pay to wait a little longer to see what kind of sales crop up over the holiday season. Even the Kindle and iPad are bound to drop in price as the year continues.
Precious Metals
This is a temporary trend, and a surprising one at that. Investors that fled to the precious metals market to invest are suddenly seeing the price of their investments drop. It may not be a good thing for those that bought at a high point, but it’s a great thing for people who still want to get into the precious metal markets. Precious metals have shown volatile performance so although you can wait out a little more, odds are the price of gold and silver will continue their upward trends later on.
Gasoline
OPEC generally sets the price of oil; however, the elections are right around the corner. President Obama is talking about releasing some oil from the United States oil reserves to help increase the supply of gasoline and reduce prices downward. You can expect more such moves until the election is over.
