McConnell: One Year Health Spending Anniversary
U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell today unveiled a web video on the one-year anniversary of the health spending law and its impact on all Americans.
McConnell said: “The president promised, `If you like what you have, you can keep it.’ But cuts to Medicare Advantage mean millions of seniors will lose access to programs they like. According to the independent Congressional Budget Office, working families will see premiums go up by $2,100. And the administration now acknowledges that the new rules will cause millions of Americans to lose the employer-based health plan they currently have.”
“One year ago today, over the objections of the American people, the disastrous health spending bill that Washington Democrats rammed through with a partisan vote became law. At the time, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”
Well, now we know-and the results aren’t pretty. Federal health spending is estimated to go up more than $450 billion over the next decade. Taxes will go up more than $550 billion. And a half-trillion dollars will be cut from Medicare to be spent on new government programs.

Republicans in Congress heard you. But we need you to keep making your voices heard as we fight to repeal this law and replace it with commonsense reforms that will actually lower costs.”
