Kimbrough: Consider tax 2011 consequences before end of this year

Recently, Congress adjourned so the members could go home to campaign for themselves or their colleagues before passing any tax legislation, so we won’t know until December whether the “Bush-era tax cuts” will disappear at the end of the year. Although most pundits seem to think there will be an extension of the cuts at least for the so-called middle-class taxpayers – those making less than $200,000/$250,000 (joint filers) – there is a chance there will be an impasse with no vote. If so, rates will go back up where they were before the 2001 cuts were passed.
